Global Missions Teams
Our mission is to help God’s children, young and old, worldwide and to raise awareness of global needs in our congregation.All God’s Children Fund
This fund was developed as a way to provide continuing support to our two main areas of missions work, Garland Hall Children’s Home in Anchovy, Jamaica and our companion congregation in Idete, Tanzania. Our Mission Jamaica group visits Garland Hall each year to help with repairs and to bring, gifts, love and support to the children. In the fall of 2006, members of our congregation visited Tanzania and brought fellowship and support to the people of Tanzania and the Idete church and school. Both groups brought back with them very special memories and experiences.
Munch for Missions & Mission Sunday
We sponsor two annual events at FLC, “Munch for Missions” in the spring and “Mission Sunday ” in the fall. These events include guest speakers, displays and other activities that raise awareness of other cultures.
Bread Shelf
Closer to home we provide a bread shelf in our church which makes free bread and bakery items available to everyone.
Quilting Group
The quilting group at FLC makes many beautiful quilts each year that are given to people in need of a warm blanket. They meet at FLC on the first and third Thursday of each month at 9:30 am.
Bread of the World
We have a chapter of Bread for the World that meets the 2nd Monday of each month to address issues relating to hunger. Throughout the year we collect food for the food shelf, school supplies for local children and clothes for those in need.
Global Missions committee meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.
