Missions
Farmington Lutheran Church has a very active Global Missions Committee. You might wonder what Global Missions is all about. It is our goal to find ways to help God's children, young and old, worldwide and to raise awareness of global needs to our congregation. Our congregation participates in programs such as the Lutheran World Relief Fair Trade Coffee program; we have developed "All God's Children Fund" as a way to provide ongoing support to our two main areas of mission work, Garland Hall Children's Home in Anchovy, Jamaica and our companion congregation in Idete, Tanzania. Several times a year we provide inspirational guest speakers to enlighten us with a variety of global issues. Closer to home, members of the Global Missions Committee collect and deliver hygiene items as well as socks and blankets to homeless shelters in the twin cities area. Non-perishable food items are collected for the Farmington Food shelf and we also provide a bread shelf in our church, which is available to anyone in need of free bread or bakery items. Farmington Lutheran Church works together with other area churches to prepare and serve the Farmington Community Meals. The meal is on Thursday's at 5:30 at our church. The meal is free and everyone is welcome. Our committee is always busy and involved in new and exciting projects. New members are always welcome; we meet the third Thursday of each month. If you would like more information about the Global Missions Committee you can contact the church office at 651-463-4100. |
